Oliver – Dentist/dental surgeon
Graduating from Otago University in 1984, Oliver has worked in private practices in London and Edinburgh as well as being a senior house officer at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital.
When returning from overseas in 1989, Oliver worked as a dental registrar at Wellington and Hutt Hospitals before forming the dental practice in 1990 on the Terrace.
Oliver is a member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Australian Osseointegration Society, NZ Society for Sedation, and the NZ Dental Association.
Interests of Oliver includes restoring smiles to their natural beauty and dental health, in the simplest and most non-invasive way. Since 2005 Oliver has been placing implants and doing IV Sedation. He is passionate about general dentistry and caring for his patients. Oliver is also a fluent French language speaker.
Outside of work, Oliver’s passions include yoga and meditation with his wonderful wife, cycling with his mates and trying to spend as much time with his son who lives overseas.
Raymond – Dentist/dental surgeon
Raymond graduated with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago University in 1993, having previously completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Waikato University. Following graduation, he gained valuable clinical experience in practices in the Hutt Valley, Wairarapa, Wellington and New Plymouth before joining our current practice as one of its principals in 1999.
Raymond has been a member of the NZ Dental Association since 1993 and is an inaugural member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry when it was founded in 2005.
Raymond is a general dentist who is highly skilled with the knowledge and expertise to provide general dental care for the entire family. He enjoys working with his patients to develop individual personalized comprehensive treatment plans, from children right up to his long-term elderly patients.
He constantly updates his dental skills and knowledge with professional continuing education.
When not practicing dentistry Raymond enjoys competing in tennis, practicing martial arts and spending time with his wife and teenaged children.
André – Dentist/dental surgeon
André has been fortunate to have worked in several settings, including the public sector in rural areas, hospitals, as well as general practice in New Zealand, Australia and Germany. This has given André a wide scope of skills which has helped him to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. If you feel more comfortable speaking your home language, André also speaks Polish, German and French and is always looking forward to getting to know people.
André enjoys the variety of dentistry and working with our wonderful team at Smile Design to help you return to and maintain a healthy smile. This preventive focus begins with gum health, includes management of wisdom tooth problems and encompasses durable and aesthetic solutions for replacing lost tooth structure and teeth. André is also a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and the International Team for Implantology.
Outside of work, André enjoys spending time with family, playing the clarinet in various bands and exploring the great outdoors!
Mary – Oral Health Therapist
Mary graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2020. Her degree allows her to practice both dental hygiene and dental therapy.
After graduating, Mary worked at Bee Healthy Regional Dental Service where she provided free dental care to children from birth to year 8. This included comprehensive dental examination, preventive, and restorative treatments.
As an oral health therapist, she is passionate about helping patients to achieve healthy gums and teeth by providing oral hygiene advice and individualised treatments. She is especially interested in preventive dentistry and believes that optimal oral health can be achieved by educating and empowering her patients.
In her spare time, Mary enjoys going for walks, learning new things/hobbies, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Alyssia – Hygienist
Alyssia graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Oral Health in 2011.
Originally from the Bay of Plenty, Alyssia moved to Wellington in 2013. Since moving to the Capital, Alyssia has gained valuable experience working between a specialist periodontal practice and Smile Design Dental Group.
Treatments include maintenance of general oral health through to management of advanced gum disease.
Alyssia’s aim is to work with patients to provide them with the knowledge and skills to create healthy smiles for life.
She offers a friendly and positive approach when treating patients. She ensures a high level of care and also appreciates the importance of patient comfort. Alyssia has a special interest in reducing dental waste and using eco friendly products.
Outside of work she enjoys all sports and being outdoors. She also appreciates experiencing different cultures and their cuisines.
Jojo – Dental Assistant
Joining Smile Design Dental Group to work alongside Ray in 2019, Jojo has been working within the practice premises since 2011 with the New Zealand Defence Force dental team. This included assisting with chair side and administrative duties.
Moving to New Zealand from England in 1988, Jojo soon after obtained her Dental Nursing Certificate and went to work in numerous dental practices around Wellington.
In 1996 she joined the New Zealand Defence Force, in their dental team. During this time, Jojo was lucky enough to travel around New Zealand to their many dental practices. To further her education, Jojo attended the Open Polytechnic to study the New Zealand Certificate in Sterilising.
Jojo has two grown up boys, so is now finding new activities to do in her spare time which include making teddy bears for friends and family.
Alison – Receptionist
Alison works part time in the reception team, greeting patients, answering phone calls, making appointments and undertaking the general administration duties of the practice since 2009.
She is an experienced receptionist and business administrator. Her friendly nature enables our patients to feel at ease. Over the years Alison has been steadily encouraging our practice to become more environmentally friendly, such as our oral care recycling scheme.
In her spare time, Alison likes to spend time with her family and friends on outdoor adventures.
Ayesha – Receptionist
Ayesha started her journey in the dental world in 2011, proceeding to achieve her New Zealand Dental Assisting Certificate Qualification in 2012.
Since then, Ayesha has been working with dentists in the Wellington region which her chair side experience has given her a strong understanding of dental procedures.
Joining the Smile Design team in 2021, Ayesha works in the reception area welcoming patients, taking bookings and answering questions while ensuring your visit as easy as possible.
Outside of work, Ayesha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, food, travel, movies, loves being a Wellingtonian and is a proud New Zealander.
